Welcome to Enterprise Risk Management at the University of Iowa.

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is the global or holistic approach to managing risks. ERM encompasses all areas of the University and includes strategic, operational, financial, compliance and reputational risks.

The ERM objectives at the University of Iowa are to

  • Assess enterprise risk areas
  • Develop enterprise risk management strategies
  • Recommend institutional policies related to controlling risks
  • Promote a University culture that identifies risk management as a consideration when executing and planning enterprise activities

Since ERM is a university-wide effort, all members of the UI community play an important role in the ERM process. This process includes the identification and management of risks to best advance the University's objectives for education, research, outreach and service.

A University-wide ERM committee has been established to lead the ERM effort at the University of Iowa. More information on the ERM committee and ERM at the University of Iowa can be found on this website.
